Everything You Need to Know About Our Winter Blend Spray Foam

Our winter blend spray foam was carefully and thoughtfully created to offer unique benefits and extra protection for winter conditions. With easy installation and increased durability, it’s the ideal solution for spray foam needs in winter weather.

Benefits of SprayWorks Equipment’s Winter-Blended Spray Foam

At SprayWorks Equipment, the unique winter blend spray foam we offer is quickly and easily installed in diverse applications, including for walls, attics, floors, and more. A quick installation is especially beneficial in cold weather where other insulations may take longer to install. The winter blend spray foam is resistant to water and moisture which makes it the ideal insulation option for areas that are subject to high humidity or water exposure.

Sustainably designed, the winter blend spray foam from our product line has a low global warming potential (GWP). HFO foam has a significantly lower GWP than traditional insulation foams. With less of an environmental impact, our winter blend HFO foam is a highly sustainable option, and HFO foam is durable and long-lasting, so it won’t degrade over time.

With its high R-value, our winter blend spray foam possesses higher thermal resistance which helps keep your building warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. Plus, our HFO winter blend spray foam also reduces heat loss because the material reacts quickly upon contact with the substrate, which also decreases the chance of delamination.

With a tight air seal, our winter-blended spray foam creates a seal around the edges of doors and windows, preventing drafts and further reducing heat loss. In addition to air sealing, spray foam serves as a moisture barrier and increases energy efficiency.

Chemical Compounds Available for Winter-Blended Spray Foam

Chemical compounds in the winter blend spray foam can be tailored to unique applications. A few of the chemical compounds available include:

  • HFO-1234ze – This is a low global warming potential (GWP) compound that is often used as a replacement for HFCs (hydrofluorocarbons) in foam insulation applications.
  • HFO-1234yf – This low GWP compound is often used in automotive air conditioning systems.
  • HFO-1336mzz – This is a high molecular weight compound that is often used in rigid foam insulation applications.
  • HFO-1234ze-A – This is a blend of HFO-1234ze with a small amount of HFC-134a, and is used to improve the thermal conductivity and flammability characteristics of the foam.
  • HFO-1233zd(E) – This is a terpolymer of HFO-1233zd(E) that is often used in spray foam insulation applications.

A variety of chemical compounds are available to be used in foam formulations based on each client’s specific needs.

Guidelines for Our Winter Blend Spray Foam

While installation of our winter blend spray foam is quick and easy, it’s important to note that simply because a material is winter grade that does not mean that less heat is required when applying the material. In most cases, as the substrate and ambient temperatures increase, the higher the required processing temperature will need to be. A winter-blended spray foam also does not negate the need for a flash coat – a minimum of a 3/8th-inch flash coat should still be applied.
