What Is a Fluid Transfer Pump?
Fluid displacement pumps, also called transfer pumps, help to remove fluid from the bottom of a polyurethane drum and transfer the fluid to a hose. The pressure that’s created from the fluid transfer pump provides an even and consistent distribution of material.
Once the material is transferred from the bottom of the barrel to the hose and eventually the tip of your spray foam gun, it mixes with a second material causing it to react.

T1, T2, T3 by Graco Inc.
Graco fluid transfer pumps are designed to work best with Graco Reactors. T1 is a 2:1 fluid transfer pump, T2 is 2.25:1, and T3 is a 3:1 fluid transfer pump. Depending on your output needs, Graco has a vast supply of pumps for any application. They are designed to be lightweight, long lasting, and low maintenance. The quick-release bung adapter makes it easy for drum removal without interference from hose connections.

GHO by PMC
PMC custom manufactured stainless-steel fluid transfer pumps are used to pump your spray foam and coating chemicals from 55- or 30-gallon drums to the spray foam proportioning unit. Easy-to-rebuild air motors and fluid sections coupled with the stainless-steel construction will provide years of service with the proper maintenance. These units are manufactured in the USA.
The GHO 2:1 pump has been designed and built for the application of polyurea chemical systems, polyurethane foam chemical systems and some two-component epoxy systems. The transfer pump pumps both resin and isocyanate.
IPM manufactures a wide variety of pump variations and configurations, mixers, painting pumps, heated material supply hoses, and silica gel dryers, and SprayWorks Equipment carries them all.

Are there any issues that can occur with a fluid transfer pump?
While a variety of issues can occur, one thing to watch for is making sure you don’t run out of material in your transfer pump. As soon as the pump runs out of material, it will cavitate from loss of fluid and may begin to make excessive noise and vibrate until the operator shuts it down. This leads to permanent damage to the pump, plus a loss of money and time needed to replace it.
Is there any maintenance involved with transfer pumps?
You’ll want to be sure to grease your transfer pumps before putting them into your material drum. By pre-greasing the pump, you’ll make it easier to swap drums and avoid the risk of damaging the pump when it won’t come out of the drum.
